Quick Sticks Teaches Teachers New Tricks
On the 25th November, PLT's from across Wyre & Fylde SSP took part in a Quick Sticks teachers course delivered by Amanda Partington from England Hockey at Thornton YMCA.
Quick Sticks has been designed to make the game of hockey much more user friendly for children in KS2 as well as making the game easier for teachers to deliver. Teachers were given a resource pack and activity cards providing them with a 6 week delivery programme through a number of fun drills and activities. From attending the course the teachers also received a discount on ordering the Quick Sticks Kit Bag which includes all the sticks and balls to deliver to a class of 30. The equipment has been specifically designed for KS2 children and can be used on the school playground so no astro turf needed.
Quick Sticks is one of the Youth Sports Trust priority sports and will be featuring within the competition calendar in 2010/11. We are hopefully going to be running another course in Fylde over the coming months.
