Cardinal Allen Y5/6 Basketball Festival

On Wednesday 5th May Cardinal Allen held their annual Basketball festival for Y5/6. Teams were entered from St Wulstans, Sacred Heart and Larkholme. Their may have only been 3 schools (6 teams) but that did not make any difference to the atmosphere. The pupils were full of energy and enthusiasm, and were definately after the title, which was currently being held by Larkholme. With lots of hard work and many rosey cheeks, the group stage finished with St Wulstans top (winning all their matches), and Sacred Heart and Larkholme joint second. However, Larkholme managed to creep through to the play offs on the number of baskets scored, meaning St Wulstans and Larkholme were to play in the final. St Wulstans had beaten Larkholme in the group stages 8-6, but unfortunately it was not meant to be in the final, with Larkholme scoring the winning basket in extra time to retain the title once more. Many thanks to Cardinal Allen's Y9 boys who unmpired all the matches and did an amzing job.
