Lancashire Tag Success!!!!!

On Tuesday 23rd March The Breck Primary School (Wyre) and Clifton Primary School (Fylde) took part in the Spar Lancashire Youth Games Tag Finals at Preston Grasshoppers.

Both teams competed really well in the group stages and successfully made it through to the quarter finals of the main Cup. Unfortunately Clifton lost, however The Breck won putting them through to the semi final against West Lancs. After an end to end semi final and both teams showing a very high standard, a couple of handling mistakes by West Lancashire led to The Breck capitalising and running away as the victors.

The final was to take place on the main pitch at Preston Grasshoppers in front of all the other teams sat in the main stand and esteemed guests against Ribble Valley. The teams were led onto the pitch by the Sale Sharks mascot Sharkey and their team managers. After the formalities took place, the final began.

Once again, like the semi final, it was end to end action with each team taking it in turns to score from the restart. This led to the inevitable.....extra time. Both teams were not backing down but then a mistake by Ribble Valley led to The Breck breaking through to get over the try line. Finally the full time whistle blew and The Breck were the county champions!

Both The Breck and Clifton Primary School were amazing on the day and certainly did their borough and school very proud. Well done to both schools!!!!
