Jan Turley from England Netball delivered an excellent High 5 Netball Course yesterday. This course was attended by representatives from primary schools within the Partnership and some 6th form students from Carr Hill High School. All of the participants were keen to learn how to play, coach and umpire this version of the game. This is exactly what Jan provided, in a motivational and enthusiastic way. All of the feedback has been positive, with all now feeling confident enough to take on the role of coach in their own school and to support local primary schools.
In High 5 the rules have been modified to allow players greater freedom around the court. This encourages a flowing game, through which players can build a range of movement skills and develop the concept of team work, whilst improving their health and fitness at the same time. It introduces the roles of scorers, timekeepers and in some cases centre pass markers and through the rotation system, children are able to try out a range of positions/ roles, rather than remaining in the same one for the whole game as in 7 a side.
Thank you to all that attended and thanks to Jan for providing a great course in only 2 hours.
